Signature Soyloin and Poo Cookies

Travis can do a Mexican accent really well, but that is the only accent he can do. When he attempts to do an English accent, or a southern accent, or a French accent he sounds like a kid who was raised in the ghetto who is attempting to do an Australian, Southern, English, Brooklynn and any other accent you can think of all at the same time. It is really funny. So you know the Outback steakhouse commercial where the Australian guy says "Signature Sirloin"? Well, Trav loves to say that line in his "Australian" accent. It sounds like "Signature Soyloin". Three nights ago Travis was saying it in his sleep...in case you were wondering his "accent" was still really bad.

Last night we were watching the women's figure skating and one of the girl's messed up towards the beginning. Travis commented "when they mess up like that I don't even care about seeing the rest of their routine...it is like a cookie with a piece of poo in it. It is ruined." I laughed for about 5 minutes straight. Leave it to Trav to come up with an analogy like that.

So Travis got me that great coupon book for Valentines Day, but he also got me an IOU. He ordered me a box of Fannie May chocolates a few days ago and they arrived today. I was so excited. I called him to tell him that I got them and then he said that he still had some things that he wanted to get me for the IOU. I told him that he had done more than enough for me, him getting up with Phoenix for the week was a huge gift in itself. This is how he responded "Oh, great!" (he sounded relieved).

I love this guy!

Accomplished

Today I got tickets for me and Audrey to go to the circus (it was $10 cheaper if you bought them in person), and I signed her up for swimming lessons. Big deal you say? Well, getting out of the house for any reason is a huge accomplishment with two kids. If I had one kid or the other things would be so much faster, but with two kids it magically quadruples the amount of time it takes to get out of the house. Thankfully both kids were well behaved.

When I got home, I called the customers for tomorrow and out of 10 people I only had to talk to 2 of them (it goes so much faster if I can just leave a message) and they were both nice. Hooray!

Oh, and I just realized that I have had absolutely nothing to eat all day today except for these amazing lemon cookies I made last night...and it is almost 5pm! Now if that isn't an accomplishment I don't know what is.

Meet Dr. Jones

We recently acquired the first three Indiana Jones movies. The only one that Audrey likes is Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom, and when I say likes I mean she LOVES it. She refers to Indiana Jones as Dr. Jones (showing him proper respect). She usually names all of her baby dolls "Lucy", but today when she dug her chicken doll out of her toys she immediately named him "Dr. Jones".

She put "Dr. Jones"down to sleep in her room, but Phoenix woke him up. Audrey kicked us out of the room as she was rocking Dr. Jones in her arms and saying "SSSHHH" really loud (that is how we put Phoenix down).

Chapped Lips

Audrey has a very specific bedtime routine, one of the things on the check list is putting vaseline on her lips (she has chapped lips a lot). Tonight she put some vasline on her lips, and then she wiped her finger on this book that she keeps next to her bed (a book on Joseph Smith that she more or less confiscated from me). At first me and Trav thought that she just used the book to clean her finger, but then she said "there you go Joseph Smith!" I realized that she hadn't randomly wiped her finger on the book, but she had put the vaseline on his lips to. She is such a considerate little girl.

Kamanana

...that's what Audrey calls harmonica's. She has wanted one for almost 2 years, and last week she finally got one. She plays it really well, she sleeps with it on the table next to her bed every night...she loves it.

Welcoming the Spring

We finally had some decent weather last weekend! It has been way too cold for way too long. Nothing brings in the warm weather like grilling up some burgers and dogs, and of course potato salad. Now, if we could only get this warmer weather to stay...

Sandals Weather

It was sandals weather this weekend...luckily Phoenix was prepared.

Queen for a Week (that's me!)

As most of you know, last Sunday was Valentines Day. Travis is famous (in our house at least) for doing candy trails. This year he did not let us down. On Sunday morning me and Audrey woke up to our own. He started a trail from our bedroom door, and one from Audrey's door and they met above the stairs and then all the way down the stairs to a HUGE pile of different kinds of candy. This is a tradition that was started by him back in our dating days. This picture is from our first Valentines Day together...ever (it was back at college).
Amidst the pile of candy was a heart shaped box containing more candy (we really like candy here) and next to that was a little coupon book. Enclosed was this:
  • one week of him putting both kids down every night
  • one week of him doing all of the dishes, including wiping the table and counter
  • one week of back rubs (he has gotten really good at them, and they usually last for over an hour!)
  • one week of him picking up the house

and the best one...

  • one week of him getting up with Phoenix every night

I don't think that anyone but Mom's could fully appreciate this gift. I cannot tell you how nice it is to be taking it a little easier this week (and be a little lazy), and to go to sleep at night knowing that I am going to get to stay asleep the whole night. Thankfully Phoenix has actually been sleeping through the night every night this week, but even being "on call" as we refer to it causes you to have interrupted sleep. So, the reason why I titled this post "Queen for a week" is because that is what I feel like.

I love you Trav!

Nearly Naked

Today I was preparing dinner in the kitchen. Audrey came running up to me and said "I have to go pee-pee". So I told her to go. A minute later she came out of the bathroom totally naked except for her pants around her feet. She ran around (she likes to run around naked) and then she stopped where Phoenix was laying on the floor, she turned around and aimed her butt toward him, and then she released some gas...several times. Then she turned back around, laughed, and continued to run around. At that moment I thought to myself "I have a very crude daughter". The problem is that when she does things like that I can't hold back my laughter.

Blah

That is the word I would use to describe yesterday. It was day 2 of Phoenix being difficult to put down for his naps. I didn't get to take a shower all day. A customer was rude on the phone. I found a pair of Audrey's soiled undies in the downstairs bathroom from Sunday. I kicked them out of the bathroom, but they are still there on the floor where I left them. I dropped the bag of sugar and a ton of it fell onto the floor...I didn't clean it up. Instead of being productive after the kids are down for bed last night I vegged out on the couch, strained my "voice" playing Disney Sing it on the Wii, and then watched an hour of Celebrity Fit Club and NBA wives (alternately). I learned a valuable lesson from NBA wives...Mo Money = Mo Problems. Then I called it a night (despite the dirty dishes in the sink), and soaked in the tub for an hour.

Hopefully today will be more productive!

Lie to me

Last night me and Audrey had a treat of kettle corn with added sugar and m&m's. We remarkably did not finish the m&m's so I left the bowl on the kitchen table last night. This morning Audrey came up to me and asked if she could eat candy. I told her that she would have to wait until after dinner. Just now I was checking my email and she came running upstairs.

Audrey: My m&m's are not yucky! (she usually says stuff like that so that I can give my approval and say "no they are not yucky, you can eat them)

Me: Did you eat some m&m's?

Audrey: No, I dinnit eat them (as she said this the unmistakable smell of chocolate escaped her mouth)

Me: Come over here so I can see your teeth

Audrey: (trying to keep her mouth shut, finally I got it open to see remnants of m&m's on her molars)

Me: You lied to me

Audrey: No, YOU LIE! (said in a loud and accusing voice)

So I guess Audrey has figured out how to lie.....great.

Broken Heart

This evening me and Audrey were watching The Bachelor: On the wings of love (does it sound less embarrassing when I add the "on the wings of love" part?). Don't judge me...

Audrey loves watching evening TV with me, she always cuddles with me when we watch TV or movies. It is great. For those of you that did not tune in tonight, one of the 4 remaining girls had to choose to stay on the show or keep her job. Both the girl and "The Bachelor" were crying (has anyone else ever noticed that the bachelors are always on the emotional side?). Then Audrey said "Did she break his heart?" and I answered "yes". Then she said "Did he break her heart?" and I answered yes to that as well. I was impressed with what she understood...she even faked some crying for them. It was very cute.

I think it was confusing for her to see one guy have so many girlfriends. I asked her if she had a boyfriend (almost all of her friends are boys). She said "Yes, it is Brighton." Then she changed her mind to James (he was the ring bearer in Jill's wedding). Audrey thinks that her and James got married. Then after a few minutes she changed her mind back to Brighton.
Have I ever mentioned that I love having a little girl?

Boogie Wall

yeah, you read that right. I said boogie wall, to be more specific I should say Audrey's boogie wall.

A few weeks ago I noticed a green speck on the wall next to Audrey's bed. I asked she had put a boogie on her wall and she said "yes". The next day I noticed that the green speck had a friend, and the day after that there were some more "friends". I told Audrey she had to stop wiping her fingers on the wall. She didn't.

Today we were rearranging Audrey's room, including her bed. I had told Travis about her boogie wall, but I don't think that he ever really took a good look at it until today. His reaction was a shutter and a gasp in disgust. I had the lovely task of cleaning it. It wasn't easy.

I told Audrey that she couldn't have a boogie wall anymore. It was really gross cleaning it.
