Last Soccer Game of the Season

My sisters were here for Audrey's last soccer game, she was excited to have extra fans and they were excited that they got to see her play.

I am pretty sure that Audrey's favorite parts of the game were when she could relax on the sidelines...

 In order to get Phoenix to semi behave during the game we "make a game" of him going to sleep...it is actually surprisingly effective!

 After the game the kids all got cupcakes.  When I say kids I mean the kids on the team.  Phoenix was devastated when he didn't get one.  We successfully intercepted around 4 attempts that he made to grab a cupcake...and then we turned our heads for 10 seconds, and we saw a victorious Phoenix Willy running back to us with a cupcake in hand.  When he saw Travis he ran away from him because he was scared that Trav would take it from him. I wish I had a picture that captured his joy when he realized we were going to let him keep it.  

And in the end...all he ate was the frosting. Audrey had a great soccer season, I will definitely have her do soccer again because it is actually fun to watch.  I can sign Phoenix up for the 4 year old soccer next fall, and I think he will LOVE it!

Pumpkin Farm

My sisters came right around Halloween, so we took them to the Pumpkin Farm with us!  I would say that this was the funnest thing that we did while they were here.  

 Travis and Leah raced sticks down this thing (I have no idea what it is actually called)...Travis got really into it, lol.  He won, but it was pretty intense.

 Phoenix was in heaven on the train!

 This whole shelter is filled with hay!  It was SO fun!!

 We went so late in October that only the very ugly pumpkins were left.  For a few weeks before we actually went to the Pumpkin Farm Audrey had been talking about how she wanted to pick out the most perfect pumpkin, which sadly was not possible.  I somehow miraculously convinced her to find the ugliest pumpkin.  Once she jumped on board with that idea she quickly found a pumpkin that worked.  And she was just a little excited.  

Everyone had a great time!!  It was so fun sharing our annual tradition with my sisters (we were missing Jo who is at BYU!).

1st lost tooth!

A few weeks ago Audrey came home from school with a loose tooth...it took me by surprise (I swear I was in 2nd grade when I had my toothless smile), and it also made me really sad.  My little girl is growing up!  Luckily I had about a week to get used to the idea before her tooth actually came out.  It happened on our way home from church (I should mention that throughout the week Audrey kept accidentally biting down on her tooth and it hurt and then she would cry).  Audrey bit down on her tooth and started crying (and by this point it was getting a wee bit annoying) so I told her to just pull it out.  So she did.  She was so excited, and I think very happy to find out that it did not hurt.  Both me and Trav told her to be careful with the tooth and to not lose it in the car.  So, naturally, she lost the tooth in the car.  She looked for it on the ground while we were bringing our stuff inside the house and then she came running in saying "I found it!".  She held it up and it was a piece of dried up pizza crust (not smooth at all), she was convinced it was her tooth because of the blood on it (aka pizza sauce).  Luckily, I was able to find the REAL tooth quickly.  

Now we always joke when we have a pizza crust in our hands that it is a tooth...

Last Beach Trip of the year

The weather held out (sort of) for one last beach trip this year.  When I say "sort of" I mean that I spent my time under blankets...whilst the little ones pretended it was warm and played in the sand.  Once they got wet...it was over.  

We are a beach family...each one of us loves the beach.  Something about laying on the warm sand, sun beating down on you, waves crashing...it is so peaceful and relaxing.  And then your kid throws sand in your face. :-)

I have refrained from being political on facebook for several reasons, mostly because I don't want to start any debates.  This is MY space though, so I thought I would post a few of my favorite funnies.

Video Games

Phoenix broke our game drive to our Wii last year (I guess stuffing as many DVD's into it at once will do that), so we haven't played a lot of games.  Two weeks ago Audrey started playing Super Mario 3 (which we had downloaded already) and both me and her are totally addicted!  When I played it growing up we did not have the internet like it is today, so I googled all of the "secrets" and I have watched youtube videos on how to get certain things.  It is SO fun!  Audrey wants to play Mario everyday (and I usually get sucked in which means her and Phoenix get to stay up late!).  And might I add that it is awesome NOT having to blow on the game cartridge, and try desperately to get the nintendo to read it before you can actually play the game!  3 of my sisters are visiting in a few weeks, and I am thinking we will have to get our Mario on (we usually play Disney Sing It and Band Hero).

Big steps

You may or may not know that Phoenix is an extremely picky eater.  Picky as in I have had to force feed him before.  On a daily basis.  It was horrible.  I could always get Phoenix to eat candy or Doritos, but I am pretty sure that a diet of just those two things is not considered healthy.  Phoenix has gradually added more food to his menu:  Mac n Cheese (only when it is made with at least 2% milk, the thick and creamy variety), Pizza (but usually only Little Caesars lol), and once in a while, Spaghetti.  In the last few weeks he has tried soup for the first time, and he liked it, and he also tried Cinnamon toast (he usually spits anything in the bread variety out immediately).  This may seem like no big deal to most of  you, but these two things are actually HUGE steps for Phoenix.  I think he will warm up to trying new things slowly and over time, but there is hope!!
