Routine

The hardest part of the day is mid-afternoon to evening. I dread it. Up until a few weeks ago I felt like I had a great routine. I would put BOTH Audrey and Phoenix down for a nap around 3:00ish and during that time I was able to get a lot of stuff done. Every day I looked forward to watching Gilmore Girls at 5:00 on ABC Family, and I would usually do work while I was watching it (paper work organization, fold laundry, clean the kitchen, prepare dinner...you get the picture). I would also usually relax for a few minutes and eat a candy bar, or make myself a smore...something to help make the moment of peace even better. Well that wonderful time during my day has come to a screeching halt.

Audrey figured out how to open her "child-proof" door knob to her room, so now she is waking up about an hour earlier in the morning and she takes a nap during the day probably every 3 days or so (so that means I have a cranky girl on my hands). Phoenix has been having a hard time with his nap schedule. He still goes down, but the times are all wacky. And when he is awake he is about 100x crankier than Audrey...and for those of you that need reminding, a cranky 1 year old makes it really hard to do anything. And to top it off, Gilmore Girls hasn't even been on the last few days.

I am really hoping this is just a phase (me and Trav will have to figure out a new way to keep Audrey in her room) and that the old schedule will resume soon. Tomorrow would be great.

Oh the joys of figuring it out. That indeed is the worst time of the day especially for me since Mike doesn't get home until 8pm so it seems longer.

Good luck figuring it out. Maybe you can teach Audrey that she must stay in her room until you get her whether she be reading or playing as long as it's still quiet time.

I think that time of day is tough too. I can't believe Audrey will still nap, though!!! Lucky duck! Merry Grace hasn't napped in almost two years, except for the rare occasion where she was up too late or something. I hope you figure out a happier schedule soon. Cranky kids make for a cranky mommy. :)

I was at babies r us, and they have a big selection of doorknob thingys. Or you can just turn the doorknob around and lock her in (sounds cruel, but it's basically the same thing right?).

and when you are bored next during the dreaded Witching Hour call me! You can come over or we will come over (in which case you have to make me a smore).

And lastly--if Gilmore Girls isn't doing it for you, don't forget about Alias. It will fulfill your girl/cheesey/tv drama need!
