Rejection...

...is never fun, but it is heart breaking when it happens to your child.

Audrey is usually outgoing, especially in public places like stores and restuarants. Today me and the kids were in Target and Audrey asked if we could get some popcorn, and me, being the ultra cool Mom that I am, immediately gave in (I am a sucker for the cherry Icees at Target). So we were in line and Audrey saw two little boys sitting at a table. She told me that she was going to go play with her friends and she went over and sat down next to them. The boys immediately started yelling "Go away!". It took her a few moments to process it, but she did. She came walking back to me with the saddest face and I picked her up and she burst into tears. It was so sad. So I got her the popcorn and the Icee (well, that was mainly for me) and then we went home and I have been spoiling her all day. I didn't even try to make her go down for a nap.

I have always thought about how I cannot control what my kids will have to deal with outside of our home, but I want to make sure that they always feel loved, accepted, and valued in our home.

Poor Audrey =( That makes me so sad. Audrey is the sweetest little girl and the thought of anyone being mean to her is horrible!

That is the worst feeling. There has been times that I have felt that I just wanted to keep the kids at home forever so that they wouldn't ever get hurt...but that isn't realistic. I sometimes wonder if it hurts us as mom's worse then the kids? Sorry she had to go through that.

Rachel you are such a fabulous mom. And just so you know- I love that you are spoiling her today to help her feel better! I would do the same thing!

ok this really made me sad! did you punch those jerk boys? audrey is such a sweetie.

we are a popcorn/target family as well. whenever amaryllis sees the target logo (on a bag or in a magazine) she shouts "let's get some PoPCOrN mommy!". i haven't done the icee yet, mostly b/c i'm wondering if it would end up everywhere. you have inspired me, perhaps we will try that next. but FYI their pretzels are NARSTY dry.
