Lake trip

My sister Jessie flew in for the weekend a week after Phoenix was born. We went to a nearby lake for Saturday afternoon. I had been hoping to grill hotdogs and make some s'mores (I havent had a legit s'more in waay too long), but it was too late by the time we got there. We still had a fun time though.

Travis, looking as handsome as ever

Jess and Audrey :-)

Me and Jo took our raft out. We were...quite inefficient at paddling. I want a kyak!

Cute pics

Here are a few cute picture from one of the first days we came home.

Phoenix William Andrew

Our precious little boy was born July 8th, 2009 (for those of you that are as nerdy as me his birthday is : 7/8/09...kinda cool right?). He was born exactly on his due date, my Dr. told me that only 7% of babies are born on their actual due date. Contractions started at around 3:30 a.m. I went into my Dr's at around 8:30 a.m. and I was already 7 cm dilated! I had two great fears: 1) I wouldn't be dilated at all and they would send me home to wait in misery until I could be admitted to the hospital (aka what happend with Audrey) or 2) I would be too far dilated to get an epideral. Luckily, I did not have anything to worry about. So I went to the hospital, got the epideral after about 1/2 an hour and then I slept until 3:30 pm when Phoenix was born. Everything went perfectly. Phoenix weighed 6 lbs 11 oz and he was 21 inches long. This is right after Phoenix was born.

His little yawn... (awww!)
Audrey finally got to meet her baby brother! (she LOVES him!)
I was glad that my Mom and Jo were in town to help with Audrey (it was a HUGE help!). Brighton was extremely excited when he came to visit, which of course made Audrey excited. It was very cute to watch.
This is my little fella on his way home.
So far, he has been a perfect baby. He eats a ton, and he sleeps a ton. I swear he already recognizes me when I hold him. He is cuddly (I am crossing my fingers that it will last).
How has Audrey adjusted? Great. She loves to help out, sometimes a little too much. She is always monitering him (she lets me know when he wakes up). She always wants to hold him. When we were in the hospital he stayed in the nursery during the nights and after the first night the nurse wheeled him in and he was sucking on a little pacifier. Audrey has made it her duty to give him his paci whenever it falls out (sometimes she even pushes my hand out of the way so that she can do it by herself).

4th of July

My Mom and Joanna came here on the 4th of July. My Mom offered to stay at home and watch Audrey (who was I to refuse an offer like that?) while me, Jo, and Trav went to the fireworks show at the fairgrounds in Raleigh. We literally sat right across the street from our old apartment building (no, I do not miss living there). The fireworks show was by far the best one I have ever been to. It was the perfect length, and there were quite a few of the shaped fireworks (hearts, stars, smiley face)...and those are my favorite kind. It was a fun day.

3rd of July

We started our July 4th celebration one day early this year. We met up with Janae and Jared and we had hotdogs and corn on the cob at a park. Did you ever notice how the same food that you would ordinarily cook at your house tastes better when you cook it in the great outdoors? Jared made a rocket with Brighton's help, so we got to witness the launching. Travis got some fireworks (maybe firecrackers...I am not sure what the difference is) to finish the night off.

I am in love with this picture of Audrey and Brighton.

The rocket! My soulmate

Once there was a snowman...

I was eating cereal in our kitchen this morning when Audrey came running downstairs, she was crying. I asked her what was wrong and she told me that she had colored a snowman, and that she was being naughty. Travis yelled down the stairs that Audrey had colored on the wall with a crayon (the very same wall that I scrubbed some of her "art" off of yesterday). After I was done eating I decided to go check it out. It is by far the best picture Audrey has ever drawn. She did the eyes, nose, and mouth. So even though it was naughty of her to color on the wall, I don't think I can bring myself to scrub her picture off.

Announcing...

OUR NEW BABY!

He was born without bones, and with hair covering his entire body. He never cries, and he doesn't eat too much. I think he looks like Travis. What do you think?

OK, so I was obviously joking about the whole "we had our baby". I washed the car seat and the cover the other day and I left it on the floor in our family room. A few minutes later I looked down and noticed that Audrey had buckled her monkey in the car seat.
She is soo excited for baby Phoenix to come. We watch baby shows every day (women having babies). Today after a lady delivered her baby Audrey kissed my stomach (aka Phoenix) and she started jumping up and down saying "Phoenix is coming soon!" and then she gave me a huge hug. I can't wait for Audrey to see her little brother, and neither can she!
